About Me

A Jordanian Architect and planner, holds a Bsc of architecture from Al Al-Bait University. Worked at Yaghmour Architects and planners as a designer. After participating in several award winning projects. In 2009, left the market and joined the master’s program in Spatial Planning at the German Jordanian University (GJU). Marji had the chance to attend a full semester in 2010/2011 at the university of TU-Dortmund in Germany as an exchange student in the SPRING program of spatial planning. Currently, Marji is writing the master’s thesis entitled “Impact of Privatization of Public Spaces in Amman on Equity”.

In parallel to research, Marji is providing consultations and freelance services when needed.

Marji is an establishing member at the JPF and an elected board member for the year 2012.

Expertise & Focus: Urban Management and Development; Policy Analysis and Program Development; Institutional Development and Reform; Infrastructure and Housing; Tourism and Cultural Heritage Preservation; Working in Complex and Difficult Environments.

Experience: Joined World Bank, Washington as Urban Planner in 1985. Developed/worked upon a wide range of urban projects worldwide. Joined Bank's MENA Urban Department in 1993. Participated in developing World Bank's $ 1 billion Program of Assistance to Palestine as Urban Team Leader, after the October 1993 Peace Agreement with Israel. Established & led the World Bank's Palestine Urban Program (including projects in both West Bank and Gaza) from 1994-2000 & involving some $250-300m while resident on the ground in Palestine. Developed & led Bank's multi-component $98m urban project in 1994--the Bank's first ever project in Palestine. Principal Urban Planner in MENA Region in 1997. World Bank Consultant on cultural heritage and tourism project in Jordan (including Petra) during 2004-9, particularly Second and Third tourism projects for Ministry of Tourism. Established and led Consolidated Consultants' (CC's) urban planning group in 2007 & led 350 km2 Amman Development Corridor Strategic Master Plan. Currently engaged as team leader in building a municipal services and infrastructure database for Ministry of Municipalities, including Zarqa, Irbid & Madaba, as well as MOMA itself. Currently also serving as a World Bank consultant for a variety of urban projects in Palestine, including major infrastructure improvements in Gaza.
